National Libraries Day

Libraries hold a special place in my heart because we didn’t have much money when I was a child – certainly not enough to stretch to buying books at the rate I was able to read them. Instead, each week my mother would take me to the library and I was allowed to borrow as many books as I could carry home! Eleventymillion years later (or maybe a few less) I still remember how wonderful it felt to be carrying an armload of adventure home with me. Every time I borrow a library book as an adult I still feel the same.

Today is National Libraries Day and I think libraries are something we should all show our appreciation or. It could’t be easier to do – all libraries ask is the that we make use of them. So, go borrow books, use their free internet, rent a DVD or one of the many health services that are available in the lobbies of most large libraries. Show your  your local library that you love it, or lose it – it’s that simple.
